The Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Warren County is collaborating with local law enforcement from Franklin and Lebanon Police Departments, and Hamilton and Clearcreek Townships for the annual Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Bring expired and unused medications to a drop-off site listed in this article for proper disposal by law enforcement. No questions will be asked. Prescriptions drugs only. No needles, syringes, or liquids will be accepted. A drop box will be available at the Franklin Walmart (1275 E. 2nd St. Franklin, OH) on Saturday, April 29th from 10am -2pm.

The 2017 Annual Tree Seeding Sale offers 25 different native trees and shrubs available to purchase until the March 17 deadline. The sale is a joint effort between Warren & Butler County Soil and Water Conservation Districts to increase reforestation efforts throughout the region. Orders must be placed online at: www.warrenswcd.com by March 17. Tree pickup will be at the Warren or Butler County Fairgrounds on Thursday-Saturday April 6-8. Officer Katie Gee was honored at the January 24 Council meeting with a Proclamation that was read by Mayor Randy Winkler. Officer Gee was recognized for her compassion, empathy, and professionalism in a couple of recent cases, and has gradually taken on more responsibilities in her day-to-day duties. A big thank you to Officer Gee for her caring and dedicated service to the community and residents of Carlisle. Carlisle's annual Memorial Tree Lighting will take place on Monday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Carlisle Town Hall. This year's tree will be lit in memory of David Hatton. Santa will appear after the ceremony and the evening will conclude with cookies and cocoa at the New Jersey Presbyterian Church. Mayor Randy Winkler declared October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month by reading a proclamation at the October 11 Village Council Meeting. Mayor Winkler stated that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it is a platform for education of the importance of early detection. Mayor Winkler encouraged all residents, businesses, organizations, and other interested groups to join in activities that will increase awareness to prevent breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Proclamation Mayor Randy Winkler declared October 9 through October 15 as Fire Prevention Week and read a proclamation at the October 11 Village Council Meeting. Mayor Winkler encouraged all residents of Carlisle to replace the batteries in their smoke detectors and replace all smoke detectors after 10 years to help increase their safety from fires. Fire Prevention Week Proclamation The Carlisle Fire Department will be hosting an open house at the Fire Department to kick off National Fire Prevention Week.The event takes place at the Carlisle Fire Station—367 Lincoln Drive – on Monday, October 10th, 5:30 pm-8:30 pm. Come meet your local firefighters and learn valuable information about what you can do to practice fire safety all year long. Thanks to a generous grant from the Ohio EPA, from October 3 to October 8, Carlisle residents will be able to dispose of scrap tires at no charge. The drop-off location is at the Carlisle Service Department at 474 Fairview Drive.
