Temporary cold patch repairs have been made and the crossing is now open to traffic. We appreciate your patience! There will be a need to close the crossing again in the near future to make permanent asphalt repairs. We will keep the community posted on that closing date.
The Norfolk Southern railroad crossing will be closed on Union Road to repair the track. The crossing will be closed as soon as the repair crew is on-site, which should be within the hour. They anticipate that the repairs will be done today (Wednesday) – but not certain exactly what time. NSF has indicated that they will be handling the temporary detour.

The Municipality of Carlisle received a generous grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency which allows for residents to drop off unwanted tires at no cost. Collected tires will be sent to recycling facilities where they are shredded into chips, which are primarily used for energy-related and civil engineering applications such as asphalt, rubber mulch, playground surfaces, fuel hoses, and other products. This is a great way to help the environment as well as avoid possible zoning citations. The tire amnesty program will only be honored from May 15th through the 20th at the Franklin Township Garage at 458 Fairview Drive, Carlisle OH. Click Read More below for drop-off dates and times. |
