| Dear Warren County Property Owner Friends;
Attention ! Note: If this doesn’t apply to you, please feel free to forward this on to other people on your email list who may qualify! I wanted to make sure that you were aware of the changes recently made to the Ohio Homestead Exemption Program that may mean a real savings in your Property Taxes next year.
As of Monday
July 2, 2007, a $25,000 homestead exemption became available to
all Ohio homeowners 65 and older or permanently and totally
disabled, regardless of income. The extended application deadline is on or before October 1, 2007. For your convenience, I have attached the Homestead Exemption form to this email so you can run a copy of it to fill out or give to someone else. If for some reason you cannot open the attached file, please go to the website link below where you can download and print a copy directly from the Warren County Website front page. Return the completed form before October 1, 2007 to: Nick Nelson, Warren County Auditor 406 Justice Drive, Lebanon, Ohio 45036 513-695-1235
P.S. I also wanted to let you know that at our Commissioner’s Meeting yesterday, July 10, 2007, our Board took action to continue reducing ALL real estate property taxes for next year, 2008 (regardless of age or income) by about $6 Million Dollars annually, which approximately equates to a $75/year tax reduction on $100,000 property valuation. Thus, if your home is valued at $200,000, this means that you are paying about $150.00 a year less in property taxes because of this reduction. I am pleased to tell you that Warren County is the only county in the State of Ohio who has provided this property tax reduction annually since 1997. Over the past 10 years we have left over $70 Million of real estate tax dollars in the pockets of Warren County property owners. Unfortunately, most property owners never realized the county’s tax reduction because of ever increasing school and other service levies. I just thought you would want to know!
Sincerely,
Pat South
Warren County Commissioner
